Mike Boone

#05 Mike Boone

DRAFT CLASS:  SR/2018

POSITION: Running Back (RB)

SCHOOL:  Cincinnati

HEIGHT:  5-10

WEIGHT:  205

40 Time:  0.00

STRENGTHS

  • He possesses a solid…athletic frame to his build…ideal for the next level
  • He displays the skill & toughness to run between the tackles on a consistent basis…with the physicality & mentality to be a 15+ carry performer at the next level
  • He possesses swift fluid feet within traffic…allowing him to run between the hashes as effective as does
  • His combination of fluid hips and balance allows him to consistently avoid opposing defenders in confined areas…reminding me of NFL/RB “Jamaal Charles“…though only in short areas…with Boone lacking the long speed of Charles
  • He excels running in traffic…where he has a knack for frequently gaining hidden yardage others don’t…despite his so-called lack of prototype size (prototype size non-existent in this evaluators opinion)
  • Boone at this point in his career entering the draft is an untapped resource…who may be one of the top under the radar talents leading into draft

WEAKNESSES

  • He lacks the ideal long explosion & home-run speed looked for to be considered a potential franchise type runner beyond the collegiate ranks…but more than makes up for lack of speed
  • Low collegiate production…mainly due to lack of opportunity

SUMMARY

  • Boone is an intriguing prospect entering this years NFL draft
  • He is the type of player who will most likely have a more successful NFL career than collegiate…where his skills were not highlighted as they should have been
  • Most likely he will be a late round to UDFA who will be a steal for some NFL team!
