INITIAL DISCOVERY

My initial evaluation of Moore came against Boise State during the 2026 collegiate season, where his sturdy frame immediately caught my attention.

At 6-3 and 206 pounds, Moore possesses good size and stature for the quarterback position, with physical tools that project to the next level.

STRENGTHS

  • Moore possesses good size and stature for the quarterback position, with a sturdy frame projecting to the NFL.
  • He displays a quick release when throwing downfield. The football comes out of his hand with impressive velocity.
  • Moore possesses the arm strength to deliver passes on a rope, attacking different areas of the field with good zip on his throws.
  • He displays the ability to throw effectively from different platforms, showing versatility in his throwing mechanics.
  • His throwing style and body mannerisms remind me of Marcus Mariota. Particularly his movements and throwing mechanics, without Mariota's running ability.

WEAKNESSES

  • Moore lacks the ideal twitchiness and quickness to consistently avoid defenders, both inside and outside the pocket.
  • He needs a quicker setup on passing downs, with more active feet and greater urgency in his movements.
  • His footwork becomes especially concerning when he's forced off his throwing platform. Moore is slow to redirect his feet, increasing his susceptibility to sacks and turnovers.
  • He displays limited escapability when the pocket begins to collapse. His lack of mobility restricts his ability to extend plays and keep the chains moving.
  • Moore too often becomes a statue in the pocket, lacking the sudden movements needed to avoid oncoming defenders.
  • He appears to lack consistent awareness of collapsing protection, limiting his ability to react before defenders arrive.
  • When forced to move, his passing efficiency drops considerably. He struggles to maintain his effectiveness when throwing outside his normal platform.
  • Moore is limited as a runner, generating limited additional yardage when relying on his feet.
  • His lack of mobility can restrict an offense's play-calling options, particularly when protection breaks down or designed passing concepts fail.
  • He would benefit from improved conditioning, potentially enhancing his mobility and overall effectiveness inside and outside the pocket.
  • Moore needs quicker, cleaner ball handling when executing handoffs and other backfield exchanges.
  • He frequently stares down his intended targets, allowing defenders opportunities to anticipate his throws and create turnovers.
  • Moore often appears to determine where he's going with the football before the snap, rather than consistently surveying the field and working through his progressions.
  • His ability to process defensive coverage remains a concern. Too often he settles on his initial read, limiting opportunities elsewhere in the passing game.
  • He can be indecisive when forced to choose between extending a play and delivering the football, costing valuable time.
  • Moore frequently delivers passes a moment late, affecting ball placement and increasing the possibility of interceptions.
  • His accuracy becomes inconsistent beyond the intermediate areas of the field. With receivers too frequently needing to adjust to off-target passes.
  • Poor ball placement limits yards after catch. Preventing receivers from maintaining momentum after catch.
  • His inconsistent accuracy can place receivers in compromising positions, exposing them to unnecessary contact from approaching defenders.
  • Moore needs improved touch and placement, particularly when attempting to fit passes into tighter coverage windows.
  • He struggles to consistently deliver accurate passes into contested areas, limiting his ability to challenge defenders in tight coverage.
  • Moore is overly conservative in the passing game. Frequently settling for checkdowns, and short throws rather than challenging defenses downfield.
  • He relies heavily on outlet receivers and running backs. Allowing defenses to concentrate on shorter passing areas.
  • His reluctance to attack downfield limits explosive-play opportunities, making the offense easier to defend.
  • Moore appears more concerned with avoiding mistakes than creating opportunities for significant gains. His conservative approach limits his effectiveness as a playmaker.
  • He too often settles for throwing the football away when pressure develops, rather than using his feet to extend passing opportunities.
  • Moore's movements can appear lethargic, lacking the immediacy and intensity expected from a quarterback directing an offense.
  • He doesn't consistently display the command or leadership presence associated with high-level NFL quarterback prospects.
  • His on-field demeanor lacks the outward intensity and passion looked for from a quarterback responsible for leading an offense.
  • Moore appears to play tight at times, limiting his ability to maximize his physical tools and overall effectiveness.
  • He doesn't consistently elevate the performance of the offense, teammates, or when the moment calls for him to step up in difficult situations.
  • Despite his physical passing tools, Moore has yet to demonstrate the dynamic playmaking ability looked for in a high-level NFL starting quarterback.

INJURY HISTORY

2025 — Moore reportedly suffered a concussion against Oklahoma State.

2026 — Moore suffered a concussion following a late hit against USC on September 26. He was transported to a hospital for evaluation. Subsequent MRI and CT scans revealed no                 additional injuries.

2026 — Moore returned to practice on October 5, but remained in concussion protocol and was ruled out for Oregon's October 10 game against UCLA.

PLAYER SUMMARY

Dante Moore possesses good size, a sturdy frame, and the arm strength to make NFL-caliber throws. He displays a quick release, good velocity, and the ability to deliver passes from different throwing platforms.

However, his physical passing tools have yet to translate into the complete quarterback performance expected from a high-level NFL prospect.

Moore's limited mobility, inconsistent pocket awareness, and slow footwork become significant concerns when protection breaks down. He struggles to extend plays, and his passing effectiveness declines when forced outside his normal throwing platform.

His processing and decision-making also require considerable development. Moore too often locks onto intended targets, settles for shorter passing opportunities, and fails to consistently work through his progressions.

His inconsistent downfield accuracy and ball placement limit opportunities for explosive plays, while occasionally forcing receivers into difficult adjustments and compromising positions.

What concerns me most is his overall command of the offense. Moore possesses legitimate throwing tools, but where is the consistent urgency, decisiveness, or playmaking ability needed to elevate his team when circumstances become difficult.

His throwing style and body mannerisms remind me of Marcus Mariota, although Moore lacks Mariota's mobility and running ability.

At this stage, Moore projects as more of a developmental quarterback than an immediate NFL starter. There are simply too many areas of his game that need improvement before justifying a first-round evaluation.

Further development and additional film evaluation could change that projection. However, based on the film evaluated, his current value falls considerably below the consensus first-round expectations.
