At 1stDown Scouting, the evaluation begins and ends with what a player puts on film. We evaluate the player, not the helmet, school, recruiting stars, hype, or outside expectations.
Our goal is to identify the traits that translate to the next level by studying how a player actually plays the game — snap after snap. Athletic ability matters, but football is more than athleticism. Instincts, consistency, technique, awareness, competitiveness, and the ability to impact a play all matter.
